It was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Los Gatos, California. Netflix began its subscription-based service in 1999. As of 2009, the company had a collection of up to 100,000 titles on DVD and had more than 10 million subscribers. On February 25, 2007, Netflix announced the shipment of its billionth DVD.
