MTR CORPORATION plans to introduce 30 electric buses by the end of 2026 to replace existing diesel buses. The company also hopes to start research on hydrogen light rail within this year. MTR is committed to integrating environmental protection and low-carbon elements into the railway network, aiming to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Legislative Council members support MTR in accelerating its pace, noting that mainland China's new energy vehicles are already mature and cost-effective. MTR stated that it will consider factors such as green hydrogen supply and high-platform hydrogen trains in determining its next steps
