# A Texas judge who owns shares in Tesla recuses himself from lawsuits against X, a subsidiary under Musk's name

Federal Judge Reed O'Connor from Texas filed for recusal from the lawsuit brought by Tesla CEO Elon Musk on August 13th local time. Previously, he was assigned to preside over lawsuits brought by Musk's social platform X against multiple advertisers. It was later reported that this judge holds shares in another Musk-affiliated company, Tesla. According to O'Connor's recent financial disclosure, he also invested in Unilever, one of the defendants in Musk's lawsuit
