(NYSE: JKS) delivered its second-quarter financial results that didn’t quite hit the bullish target set by analysts. As a result, the company's stock saw an early dip of 0.88% as traders mulled over the numbers. For the second quarter, JinkoSolar reported a revenue of RMB24.05 billion (approximately $3.31 billion), which was a far cry from the anticipated RMB28.41 billion. However, not all was gloomy on the earnings front, as the company managed to surpass expectations with adjusted earnings per share of RMB2.12 (or $0.29), compared to the forecast of RMB1.21. It seems that while revenue may have taken a hit, profitability still had some aces up its sleeve. On a brighter note, the solar powerhouse witnessed a robust 34.1% year-over-year increase in module shipments, reaching a whopping 23.8 gigawatts (GW) in Q2. Impressively, JinkoSolar also announced that they became the first manufacturer worldwide to deliver a staggering 260 GW of solar modules by the end of the second quarter. Talk about a sunny milestone! Yet, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. The company’s gross margin took a tumble, slipping to 11.1% from a healthier 15.6% during the same period last year. This decline was attributed to the dwindling average selling price of solar modules—a grim reminder that the solar industry still faces significant headwinds despite its growth potential. Despite these hurdles, Xiande Li, Chairman and CEO of JinkoSolar, painted a picture of resilience. "Despite the challenges in our industry, the strength of our N-type TOPCon technology, the competitiveness of our products, and our extensive global sales and manufacturing network have placed us in a strong position in the industry," he asserted, indicating confidence in the company’s ability to weather the ongoing market turbulence and address the concern of excess capacity. As for the outlook, JinkoSolar anticipates module shipments in Q3 to be between 23.0 GW and 25.0 GW. The company has also reiterated its full-year guidance for 2024 with expectations set between 100.0 GW to 110.0 GW. For traders keeping a close eye on the solar sector, these figures could serve as a bellwether for future market movements. ### Related Stocks - [JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd.
