# OpenAI plans to launch a subscription service for its next-generation AI models, once considering a high price of $2,000 per month

> OpenAI is considering launching a subscription service for its new generation AI models (Strawberry and Orion), with discussions of a price as high as $2,000 per month. Currently, the subscription fee for ChatGPT Plus is $20 per month. This move may impact OpenAI's market positioning and reshape the pricing strategy for AI conversation products, including competitors such as Google and Anthropic. In addition, the CEO of OpenAI's Japanese subsidiary revealed that a new model, codenamed "GPT-Next," is expected to be released by the end of the year, with performance 100 times more powerful than GPT-4

IT Home reported on September 5th that The Information reported that OpenAI executives have discussed launching a subscription service for the upcoming large language models (Strawberry and Orion), even discussing a monthly fee of $2,000 at one point (IT Home note: currently about 14,221 RMB), while the current ChatGPT Plus subscription service is only $20 per month.

This move will not only impact OpenAI's market positioning, but may also reshape the pricing landscape for AI conversation products as a whole, including competitors such as Google and Anthropic.

Tadao Nagasaki, CEO of OpenAI's Japanese subsidiary, also revealed earlier that a new generation model under the code name "GPT-Next" is planned to be released later this year, with performance expected to be 100 times more powerful than the existing GPT-4 model
