This layoff is part of the company's cost-cutting and efficiency improvement plan, and affected employees have been notified. Intel has more than 20,000 employees in Oregon. Despite facing challenges in the semiconductor industry and a loss of over 1 billion US dollars last year, the company still pledges to expand its business in the state On October 16th, DoNews reported that Intel notified the Oregon state government of an upcoming layoff. The announcement indicated that 1,300 Intel employees across four offices in Oregon will be laid off. James Warner, the Chief Human Resources Officer of Intel, stated in the notification required by the federal government that all affected employees have been notified or will receive notice at least two months before the layoffs. "The first round of layoffs is currently planned to take place within 14 days starting from November 15, 2024." The company currently has over 20,000 employees in Oregon and has pledged to "expand its business operations in the state," thereby securing funding support from the state and federal "Chip Act." Due to its lagging performance in the semiconductor sector, Intel incurred a cumulative loss of over $1 billion in the previous fiscal year (approximately 7.127 billion RMB). In August of this year, Intel announced plans to cut approximately 15,000 employees globally as part of a larger cost-cutting and efficiency improvement initiative ### Related Stocks - [INTC.US - Intel](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/INTC.US.md) ## Related News & Research | Title | Description | URL | |-------|-------------|-----| | Trump Takes Credit For Intel's Surge But Hesitant To Raise Stake: 'I'll Invest More In Other Things' | President Trump claims his intervention has significantly benefited Intel Corporation, boosting its valuation and attrac | [Link](https://longbridge.com/en/news/272528821.md) | | Intel's stock is popping.
