# Russia's Olympic Committee Withdraws from Preparations for the Olympics

> The Russian government has dissolved the "Organizing Committee for the Preparation of Russian Athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games," which was established in 2014 to create conditions for athletes to achieve excellent results. The International Olympic Committee suspended the Russian Olympic Committee's qualifications due to the inclusion of certain regions of Russia, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected its appeal. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Russian athletes will compete under a neutral status, with only 15 participants

According to a report by RIA Novosti on November 9, a document published on the Russian legal information portal shows that the Russian government "dissolved the organizing committee for Russian athletes' preparation for the Olympics and Paralympics." The report states that this committee was established in 2014 to coordinate the work of relevant federal central state power bodies, the authorities of various federal subjects, and other related organizations to create conditions for Russian athletes to achieve excellent results in the Olympics and Paralympics. In December 2014, Arkady Dvorkovich was appointed as the first chairman of the committee. In the fall of 2023, the International Olympic Committee suspended the Russian Olympic Committee's qualification due to the inclusion of the "Donetsk People's Republic," "Luhansk People's Republic," Kherson Oblast, and Zaporizhzhia Oblast into the Russian Olympic Committee. The Russian Olympic Committee appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, seeking to overturn the International Olympic Committee's decision and restore its official membership. The Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected the appeal on February 23 of this year. At the Paris Olympics, Russian athletes will compete under a neutral status, with only 15 participants. Russian leaders are not allowed to attend the event in person
