# The National Radio and Television Administration has launched a pilot deployment of embedded micro set-top boxes and universal remote controls

According to the overall deployment arrangements of the National Radio and Television Administration for managing the "nested" charging and complex operations of television, the Broadcasting and Television Science Research Institute and the Broadcasting and Television Planning Institute have recently organized Gehua Cable, Dongfang Cable, and Jiangsu Cable to successively launch the deployment of insertable micro set-top boxes and universal remote controls, which is expected to be completed by the end of January, with a pilot user scale reaching 14,000 households. The launch of the large-scale pilot application marks that the insertable micro set-top boxes and universal remote controls have the technical conditions for large-scale deployment. This is a solid step taken in the application of new technologies and new devices since the implementation of the "dual governance" initiative, and the large-scale application will fundamentally improve the viewing experience and solve the complex operation issues faced by the public when watching television
