# Norinco, Arctech sign equipment deal for solar power plant in BiH

## Chinese companies Arctech and Norinco International have agreed on the delivery of equipment for a solar power plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Arctech has signed a supply agreement with Norinco International to supply its signature 1P single-axis solar tracking system SkyLine II for a 125 MW solar project located near Stolac, BiH.

The contractor said the deal marks a significant milestone for it in the European solar power market.

> Arctech started its local operations in Europe in 2013

Arctech started operations in Europe in 2013 by setting up a local office in Madrid. In the meantime, it established a service center, regional headquarters, and a research and development (R&D) center in the Spanish capital and opened a warehouse in Valencia.

BiH receives an average annual solar radiation of approximately 1,500 kWh per square meter, which is a substantial potential for the development of utility-scale solar projects, according to Arctech. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) expects the country to have up to 3 GW in photovoltaic generation capacity in 2030, the company added.

Norinco International said Arctech has an extensive track record in numerous gigawatt-scale large projects across the globe. It instills confidence in the new partnership, the Chinese utility added.

According to media reports in June last year, Norinco International planned to buy an 80% stake in Aurora Solar, a firm in BiH that has been granted a concession to build the 125 MW solar power plant in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

Tihomir Nikolić, co-owner and CEO of Aurora Solar, saids negotiations were underway with the Chinese company as well as with other potential investors. Norinco International intended to acquire Aurora Solar through its Hungarian subsidiary.

Norinco has built the largest wind farm in Croatia, with a capacity of 156 MW. Norinco International is part of China North Industries Corporation, one of the largest Chinese concerns, operating in 40 countries worldwide.
