# Focus on Trump's latest statement! Asia-Pacific stock markets opened lower collectively, and gold continued to trade at high levels

**According to CCTV News report on February 8**, U.S. President Trump stated on February 7 local time that **he will announce "reciprocal tariffs" on other countries next week.** In addition, according to Securities Times, Trump stated on February 9 local time that **he will announce a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports from all countries on Monday.**

Affected by this news, global stock markets plunged last Friday, with European and American stock markets collectively closing lower. On Monday, February 10, Asian financial markets were on high alert, with stock markets in Japan, South Korea, and Australia opening lower.

The Nikkei 225 index opened down 0.2%, the South Korean KOSPI opened down 0.4%, and the Australian S&P 200 index fell 0.5%.

Spot gold rose slightly, up 0.22% during the day, reported at $2867.61 per ounce.
