# Trump: China's education is doing very well, while we spend the most money but come in last

On February 7 local time, a group of Democratic members of Congress attempted to enter the U.S. Department of Education building but were blocked by police and staff from the "Department of Government Efficiency." In response to a reporter's question about this, President Trump stated that he hopes the U.S. has a good education system, noting that China does very well in education. He mentioned that in the education rankings of 40 countries, the U.S. ranks last, yet its per capita education cost ranks first. He hopes to spend less money and achieve better education. According to previous reports from U.S. media citing informed sources, President Trump has begun drafting an executive order to initiate the process of abolishing the U.S. Department of Education. During his campaign, Trump promised to decentralize education policy and reduce the federal government's role in education—advocating instead for states to manage schools.
