# Report: Spanish bank Banco Santander SA-Spon is reportedly increasing investment banking bonuses by about 5%

According to informed sources, Banco Santander will increase the bonus pool for bankers by about 5%, a rise lower than many peers, despite the department's record performance. There are individual differences in bonus distribution, with some high-performing employees receiving salary increases of over 10%. In 2024, the bank's Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division's variable compensation increased by an average of 10%. Like many peers, the largest Spanish bank benefited from a rebound in deal-making, debt underwriting, and securities trading, reporting a surge in investment banking revenue last year. The revenue of the bank's Corporate and Investment Banking division grew by 11%, reaching a record level, with net profit increasing by 12%. (Bloomberg)
