# TrendForce: It is expected that the shipment growth of LCD panels will slow to 5% year-on-year in 2025, while the shipment growth of OLED panels will be approximately 40% year-on-year

According to the latest research by TrendForce, **the global shipment of LCDc (refresh rate above 144Hz) is expected to reach 32.42 million units in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 12%.** Currently, due to the lack of clear stimulating factors and the significant challenges faced by panel manufacturers in the profitability of mainstream gaming monitor products, **it is expected that the growth in shipments will slow to a year-on-year increase of 5% in 2025, reaching around 34 million units.**

![Image](https://imageproxy.pbkrs.com/http://img.zhitongcaijing.com/images/contentformat/f95dc84f5c7e5c752c180f81479eb875.jpg?x-oss-process=image/auto-orient,1/interlace,1/resize,w_1440,h_1440/quality,q_95/format,jpg)

TrendForce indicates that the growth momentum for global LCD gaming monitor panel shipments in 2024 will mainly come from domestic panel manufacturers. To improve the profitability of their monitor businesses, companies are aggressively entering the gaming monitor market and expanding production capacity. Additionally, the release of the game **Black Myth: Wukong** in the second half of the year will bring additional demand for gaming monitors in the Chinese market, leading to a nearly 50% year-on-year increase in shipments for HKC, nearly 40% for CSOT, and over 20% for BOE.

Looking ahead to 2025, the growth rate of LCD gaming monitor panel shipments is expected to slow down for two main reasons: First, the esports events at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023 and the release of **Black Myth: Wukong** in 2024 have driven esports demand in the Chinese market, but currently, there are no similar stimulating demand factors observed in the global market for 2025; second, although there are many mainstream models with a refresh rate of 165Hz, the intense price competition for panels makes it difficult for manufacturers to generate profits, leading them to gradually reduce the production of 165Hz products. TrendForce expects that apart from HKC, which is still actively expanding its market share in gaming panels, other manufacturers will adopt a more conservative shipment approach.

As for the **emerging OLED gaming monitor panels, TrendForce estimates that global shipments will see a year-on-year increase of 132% in 2024.** This is mainly due to the mass production of mainstream 27-inch and 31.5-inch OLED gaming models at the end of 2023, with the panel market still in its early development stage in 2024. Additionally, SDC (Samsung Display) is actively lowering prices to expand panel sales, significantly boosting shipment volumes.

TrendForce points out that more brands will invest resources in developing OLED gaming monitors in 2025. However, to maintain the high-end positioning of OLED displays and ensure gross margins, the price reduction will slow down. **It is expected that the year-on-year growth of OLED gaming monitor panel shipments will be around 40% this year, entering a stable growth phase.**
