# S&P: Tariffs may become a "wild pitch" for the Trump administration, unable to solve fiscal issues

S&P Global believes that the uncertainty of policies such as tariffs may slow down the originally strong U.S. economy, becoming a "wild pitch" for the Trump administration. The burden caused by tariff actions will mainly be borne by domestic consumers in the U.S., and the government will not be able to solve fiscal issues as desired through tariffs. "Our team's view is that (tariff revenue) will be relatively meager and certainly cannot reach the scale of trillions of dollars, which is the scale of the proposed extension of tax cuts," said Paul Gruenwald, Chief Economist at S&P Global
