This objective, science-driven assessment process that uses Eyesafe requirements is crucial in today’s market, where consumers are increasingly concerned about the potential health effects of prolonged screen time.” OLED televisions and monitors are distinguished by their self-emissive pixels, which means they do not require backlights. To achieve a Marketing Claim Verification, UL Solutions evaluated the performance of LG Display’s OLED televisions and monitors using Eyesafe® Display Requirements 3.0, inclusive of Radiance Protection Factor (RPF®) and Circadian Protection Factor (CPF) methodologies. Higher scores indicate less circadian-stimulating blue light, with 35 or higher needed to earn a Marketing Claim Verification. The RPF assessment confirmed that the television and monitors meet the Eyesafe criteria for blue light toxicity, color gamut and color temperature, earning them RPF40. Additionally, the televisions and monitors were verified for a CPF60 rating, demonstrating a reduction in blue light emissions. Eyesafe requirements, used in conjunction with UL Solutions’ Verification, are developed in concert with eye care professionals and scientists. They establish a baseline for blue light filtration and color performance.
