# The Nikkei 225 index rose nearly 2%, and Japan is expected to start tariff negotiations with the United States this week

Japan will start crucial trade negotiations with the Trump administration this week. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated in the Diet on Monday that Minister of Economic Revitalization Ryu Masuzoe is expected to visit the United States for the first time this week as the chief trade negotiator. If rushed, it may fail, and I believe that making many compromises just to complete the negotiations is not a good thing. The negotiations should also involve national security issues.
