# "Are you worried about an economic recession?" Trump: Ultimately, I will be responsible for everything

Trump downplayed concerns about an economic recession, claiming that the U.S. is in a transitional period and acknowledged that he would ultimately be responsible for the impact of his tariff policies. Additionally, he reiterated that he does not rule out the possibility of using force to acquire Greenland, although this statement was met with opposition from the governments of Denmark and Greenland

According to CCTV reporters, on May 4th local time, U.S. President Trump criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell again during an interview with NBC, for not lowering interest rates, suggesting it was due to "personal animosity." However, Trump stated that he would not move to dismiss Powell before the end of his term in 2026. In the interview, Trump also downplayed concerns about the possibility of an economic recession, stating that the U.S. is in a transitional period and he is not worried about the economy shrinking during his term, although he does not rule out that possibility. When further pressed on whether he would take responsibility for the impact of his tariff policies on the economy, Trump said he would ultimately be responsible for everything. Additionally, Trump again mentioned the possibility of using force to acquire Greenland. Greenland, located in the northeastern part of North America, is the world's largest island. Since taking office this year, Trump has repeatedly claimed he wants to acquire Greenland and has stated that he does not rule out the possibility of using force. The U.S. remarks have been met with opposition from the governments and people of Denmark and Greenland
