Pony AI plans to expand the partnership to more international markets and has established collaborations with several ride-hailing platforms Reuters Beijing, May 6 - Chinese autonomous driving technology company XPeng (PONY.O) announced on Tuesday a strategic partnership with American ride-hailing giant Uber (UBER.N). XPeng's Robotaxi services and fleet will be integrated into the Uber platform in the second half of this year, starting in the Middle East market. In a press release, XPeng stated that this partnership is an important step in its "rooted in China, looking at the world" strategy; leveraging the company's mature L4 autonomous driving technology ecosystem to demonstrate its strong commercialization capabilities in the global autonomous mobility market. Following the announcement, XPeng's U.S. stock jumped over 14% in pre-market trading on Tuesday. The two parties plan to gradually expand their cooperation to more international markets in the future. Once the service is launched, passengers can choose to be served by XPeng's Robotaxi vehicles when booking rides on the Uber App. XPeng unveiled its seventh-generation automotive-grade autonomous driving system solution at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, claiming to have achieved 100% automotive-grade mass production of Robotaxis. XPeng also stated that the company has the most ride-hailing and taxi platform partners among global Robotaxi companies, including Uber, WeChat Mobility Services, Ruqi Mobility, Alipay, Amap, and ComfortDelGro in Singapore, which has opened up user bases and service entry points for XPeng's Robotaxi.
