# Fangzheng Securities: Lightweighting is an important industrial trend for humanoid robots, and materials such as magnesium alloy and PEEK may see an increase in penetration rate

Fangzheng Securities research report believes that lightweight design will help humanoid robots optimize and enhance various aspects such as endurance, performance, and lifespan, which is an inevitable trend. With support from policies and capital, the humanoid robot industry is accelerating and is expected to achieve a commercial closed loop in the near future. Mainstream robot manufacturers such as Tesla, UBTECH, and Yushu have all shown varying degrees of weight reduction and lightweight trends during their iteration processes. Tesla will launch Optimus Gen2 in December 2023, which, compared to Gen1, has changes in sensors and other aspects, including a weight reduction of 10 kg and a 30% increase in walking speed. The lightweight materials available for robots include aluminum, magnesium, PEEK, carbon fiber materials, etc., which may be widely used in areas such as robot body shells, joint housings, gears, bearings, and reducer/motor components
