# macOS Tahoe will be the last update for Intel chip Macs

> macOS Tahoe will be the last software update for Macs based on Intel chips. Apple announced at the "Platforms State of the Union" event that Intel chip Macs will not receive next year's macOS 27, but may receive security patch updates

As Apple gradually phases out Intel-based Macs after completing the transition to its self-developed chips (Apple Silicon), macOS Tahoe will be the last software update for these devices. At Apple's "Platforms State of the Union" event, Apple stated that Intel-based Macs will not receive next year's macOS 27, but there may still be updates that add security fixes
