# Trip.com: Major events and concert economy drive significant growth in Hong Kong's inbound and outbound tourism during the summer vacation

> Trip.com-S report shows that inbound and outbound tourism in Hong Kong during the summer vacation has significantly increased, mainly benefiting from major events and concert economy. From July to August, hotel bookings for outbound tourism rose compared to the same period last year, and flight bookings also saw a substantial increase, especially for short-haul destinations such as Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, as well as long-haul destinations like New Zealand and Australia. Concerts and celebratory events drove a 25% increase in ticket bookings. Trip.com will continue to expand related travel products to meet demand

Trip.com-S (09961.HK) stated that based on data from comprehensive flight, accommodation, and ticket or experience bookings, there has been a significant increase in inbound and outbound tourism numbers during the summer peak season in Hong Kong. Data from the Trip.com platform under the group shows that from July to August this year, the overall outbound tourism hotel bookings increased compared to the same period last year, and flight booking data reflects that short-haul destinations in Asia, such as Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, continue to be the top choices for Hong Kong residents. At the same time, demand for long-haul travel has also increased, with flight bookings to New Zealand, Australia, and various European countries like Italy and Spain growing by about 100% compared to the same period last year.

In recent months, concerts by artists such as Ayumi Hamasaki and Jay Chou, as well as the 20th anniversary celebration of Hong Kong Disneyland, have benefited from the government's promotion of event-driven economy, resulting in a 25% year-on-year increase in ticket bookings on the platform during this period. Ye Chuo Ming, Product and Marketing Director for the Hong Kong and Taiwan region at Trip.com, expressed that he is pleased to see robust growth in tourism related to concerts and events in Hong Kong, and the company will continue to expand its supply of entertainment event tickets and travel products to meet traveler demand
