# Ford Motor suspends Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle due to software malfunction locking doors

Ford (F.US) announced that its Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle may experience a software defect that could lead to the doors locking after the vehicle shuts off, potentially trapping passengers inside. The company has instructed global dealers to suspend sales of this model.

The affected vehicles involve models from 2021 to 2025, with an estimated 317,000 units needing to be recalled worldwide. Ford stated that the doors may not reopen after the driver or passengers use the internal mechanical door handle to exit the vehicle, posing a safety risk if children or pets are still inside.

This model is produced in Mexico, and Ford is currently preparing to launch a related software update to fix the issue and resume deliveries
