# India reinstates import restrictions on gold compounds, impacting the country's electronics manufacturing industry

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of India issued an order on June 17, reclassifying the import category of colloidal precious metals and their compounds from "free" to "restricted." The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) stated in a letter to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India that the import restrictions have created uncertainty for the industry's efforts to expand domestic electronic manufacturing capacity.
