# Amazon Prime Day sales in the first 24 hours increased by 10% year-on-year to $7.9 billion

> Amazon Prime Day promotions saw online sales in the U.S. reach $7.9 billion in the first 24 hours, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%. According to Adobe Analytics, this sales figure is the largest single-day e-commerce sales total so far this year, surpassing last year's total sales of $6.1 billion during Thanksgiving. The promotional event started on Tuesday and will continue until Friday, with Walmart, Target, and Best Buy also launching their respective promotions

According to Adobe Analytics data, Amazon (AMZN.US) Prime Day promotions saw online sales in the U.S. increase by 9.9% year-on-year to $7.9 billion in the first 24 hours.

Adobe Analytics stated that this is the largest single-day e-commerce sales figure so far this year, surpassing last year's total online sales of $6.1 billion during the Thanksgiving period.

The Amazon Prime Day promotion started on Tuesday and will last until Friday. Walmart (WMT.US) also began its six-day promotion on Tuesday, while Target (TGT.US) Circle Week started on Sunday, and Best Buy (BBY.US) launched its July Black Friday promotion starting on Monday
