# Trump: Powell will lower interest rates, still hopes for a strong dollar

According to media reports, Trump stated on Friday that he believes Powell will lower interest rates, although a strong dollar has limited commodity sales, he still hopes for a strong dollar.

He mentioned having a good conversation with Federal Reserve Chairman Powell and sensed that Powell might be ready to lower interest rates.

Regarding Trump's visit to the Federal Reserve, the Federal Reserve stated in a statement:

> The Federal Reserve was honored to welcome the President to our historic headquarters yesterday. We were pleased to have the opportunity to share the progress of the renovation project with him and the senators, and we greatly appreciate the President encouraging us to complete this important project.

Previously, the renovation of these two buildings faced fierce criticism from Republicans due to its $2.5 billion cost. During the visit, Trump hardly criticized the project but repeatedly urged Powell to cut interest rates.
