This is due to the growing number of global companies establishing offices in the country to leverage its expanding talent pool. The company opened its first technology center (i.e., Global Capability Center) in Bangalore last year and currently employs about 350 people in functions including data and artificial intelligence (AI), with expectations to increase to 500 to 550 in the future. Once regarded as a low-cost outsourcing hub, Global Capability Centers (GCCs) have evolved over the past few years, now providing various services to their parent companies, including daily operations, finance, and research and development. Nithya Subramanian, senior director of the Data and AI Excellence Center, stated, "We will be hiring across various departments... We will be hiring a large number of people for digital and technology-related roles." The company, known for selling electronics such as laptops, kitchen appliances, and cameras, announced on its LinkedIn page that it is hiring for positions in India, including AI engineers, software engineers, and product managers. Subramanian noted, "Even on a global scale, I think our growth in India is quite remarkable." He pointed out that the Bangalore office is Best Buy's largest technology center, even larger than its three offices in the United States. Best Buy has over 1,000 stores in the United States and Canada, with more than 85,000 employees. The company does not have retail operations in India. The expansion into the Indian market comes as many multinational companies are increasing their business scale in India. According to reports last month, Best Buy's peer Costco (COST.US) plans to open its first GCC in India. An industry report indicated that by 2030, the domestic GCC market in India is expected to grow to approximately $105 billion, compared to a market size of $64.6 billion in the fiscal year 2024 ### Related Stocks - [BBY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/BBY.US.md) ## Related News & Research - [Best Buy Is Finally Getting a New CEO.
