# Southeast Asia Stock Market Closing Report | Vietnam's stock index closed up over 1%, reaching a historic high

> On Tuesday (August 19), the Vietnamese stock market performed strongly, with the Vietnam Stock Exchange Index rising by 1.09% to close at 1654.20 points, setting a new historical closing high. The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange VN 30 Index increased by 1.35%, also reaching a historical high. Meanwhile, the Thai SET Index fell by 0.53%, the Malaysia FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI rose by 0.33%, the Indonesia Jakarta Composite Index and LQ45 Index decreased by 0.45% and 0.71%, respectively, and the Philippines Composite Index dropped by 0.18%. The Singapore Straits Times Index rose by 0.79%

On Tuesday (August 19), the Vietnam Stock Exchange Index rose by 1.09%, closing at 1654.20 points, reaching a new closing historical high after two trading days, approaching the intraday historical high of 1666.54 points set on August 15.

The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange/VN 30 Index rose by 1.35%, closing at 1810.46 points, also setting a new closing historical high.

The Vietnamese dong against the US dollar is currently down 0.07%, trading at 26312 VND as of 22:34 Beijing time, having previously fallen to 26313 VND at 17:50, marking a new intraday historical low.

The Thai SET Index fell by 0.53%, while the Malaysia FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI rose by 0.33%. The Indonesia Jakarta Composite Index fell by 0.45%, and the Indonesia Jakarta Stock Exchange LQ45 Index fell by 0.71%. The Philippines Composite Index fell by 0.18%.

The Singapore Straits Times Index rose by 0.79%, closing at 4220.60 points
