# On the eve of the non-farm payrolls, the S&P rose about 0.8%, barely setting a new closing historical high, while small-cap indices and the chip sector rose over 1%

The S&P 500 rose by 53.82 points, an increase of 0.83%, closing at 6502.08 points, barely surpassing the previous closing record high of 6501.86 points set on August 28.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 350.06 points, an increase of 0.77%, closing at 45621.29 points.

The NASDAQ Composite Index rose by 209.968 points, an increase of 0.98%, closing at 21707.694 points.

The NASDAQ 100 Index rose by 218.173 points, an increase of 0.93%, closing at 23633.013 points
