# CounterPoint report on global XR headset shipments in Q2 2025

Market research firm CounterPoint Research released a blog post yesterday, reporting that in the second quarter of 2025, Meta ranked first in the global extended reality headset market with a 71% share. In the virtual reality market, global VR headset shipments in the second quarter of 2025 decreased by 2% year-on-year and 15% quarter-on-quarter. Sales of Meta, Sony, and Apple all declined, but Meta still holds the largest market share. Meta's Quest 3S remains the best-selling VR headset in the second quarter of 2025, with the 128GB version performing the best. However, Meta's overall VR shipments decreased by 11% quarter-on-quarter to 710,000 units, highlighting a weakening demand after the early strong sales of the Quest 3 series. Sony's PlayStation VR2 holds the second position, while Apple's Vision Pro saw a slight contraction in shipments
