# Understanding the Market | Some higher education stocks strengthened in the morning session, with tangible progress in the transformation of private higher education in Hunan. Institutions are optimistic about the valuation recovery of the higher education sector

According to Zhitong Finance APP, some higher education stocks strengthened in early trading. As of the time of writing, China Education Group (00839) rose 14.29% to HKD 3.84; YUHUA EDU (06169) rose 7.35% to HKD 0.73; New Higher Education Group (02001) rose 7.26% to HKD 1.33.

On the news front, on the evening of September 14, YUHUA EDU announced a statement regarding rumors about its affiliated university, Hunan University of Foreign Economic and Trade. The university recently received approval from the relevant government authorities to carry out the classification registration of for-profit private schools. The announcement also indicated that this approval allows the school to conduct for-profit registration work according to the relevant requirements of government departments, rather than having successfully registered as a for-profit school. Due to the complexity, time-consuming nature, and high uncertainty of the relevant work processes, it is currently impossible to guarantee and control the required time.

Huachuang Securities pointed out that, on one hand, there has been tangible progress in the transition of private higher education in Hunan to for-profit status. Previously, the policy direction was clear but progress was slow. This advancement is expected to serve as a demonstration effect and may be an important signal for proactive policy promotion. Hong Kong-listed higher education companies have stable operations and high dividends, and their valuations have been significantly suppressed by policies, making value recovery optimistic. Guoyuan International stated that for-profit schools are beneficial for listed companies' dividends and profit distribution, alleviating debt. Although for-profit registration requires the completion of asset transfers such as land and real estate and the payment of taxes, which will temporarily increase costs, it will achieve market-based revaluation of assets in the long term
