# GEM signed a memorandum of understanding with ASCEND ELEMENTS from the United States to explore cooperation in battery recycling and materials in Europe

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, GEM (002340.SZ) announced that the company ("GEM") has jointly signed a memorandum of understanding (referred to as "MOU") with ASCEND ELEMENTS, INC. ("AE"), a comprehensive lithium battery recycling enterprise headquartered in the United States. Both parties have decided to combine their advantages in geopolitical relations, resources, capital, technology, and operational management to build a leading lithium battery recycling industry system in Europe. This includes cooperating to establish a leading lithium battery recycling system in Europe, a disassembly and black powder manufacturing system, and a lithium-nickel-cobalt resource recycling and battery materials remanufacturing industry system, serving the development of the entire lifecycle value chain of new energy in Europe. They will also actively explore the possibility of collaborating in the United States to promote lithium-ion battery recycling and engineering battery materials production, advancing the implementation of the global battery passport and the green development of new energy
