CICC: AI power supply architecture upgrades to 800V HVDC, SST is expected to become the optimal technical route in the long term

CICC released a research report indicating that the AI power supply architecture is upgrading to 800V HVDC, and solid-state transformers (SST) are expected to become the preferred technology for future data center power supply. Compared to traditional UPS power supply chains, SST improves efficiency by more than 3 percentage points, reduces footprint by 60%, and shortens installation and debugging cycles by 75%. With the accelerated construction of AI computing centers, SST has promotional opportunities in green electricity direct connection and integrated development of source-grid-load-storage. Although the initial investment is relatively high, the overall cost is expected to decrease after the core component technology matures in the future
