The hotel industry is expected to record a profit of MOP 8.11 billion in 2024 (before deducting depreciation and interest payments). Analyzing by type of establishment, hotel revenue in 2024 is expected to increase by 13.5% year-on-year to MOP 43.13 billion, with room rental (MOP 20.76 billion) and dining services (MOP 10.25 billion) revenues increasing by 12.5% and 25.2%, respectively. All star-rated hotels recorded year-on-year revenue growth, with four-star hotels seeing a 26.1% increase, while five-star and three-star hotels also saw increases of 11.0% and 9.7%, respectively. Hotel expenditures increased by 18.2% year-on-year to MOP 35.15 billion, with operating expenses (MOP 17.10 billion), employee expenditures (MOP 13.97 billion), and purchase and commission expenditures (MOP 4.08 billion) rising by 20.4%, 15.2%, and 20.1%, respectively. The annual profit for hotels (before deducting depreciation and interest payments) is MOP 8.04 billion. In terms of budget accommodations, the revenue and expenditure for 2024 are expected to be MOP 1.7 billion and MOP 1.1 billion, respectively, representing increases of 57.0% and 22.0% compared to 2023; the annual profit is expected to be MOP 0.7 billion.
