According to the Zhitong Finance APP, Canadian metal producer Barrick Mining (B.US) announced that its board of directors has appointed Mark Hill as the Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) and interim President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace the departing Mark Bristow, with immediate effect. Mark Bristow chose to step down after nearly seven years as President and CEO of Barrick Mining. The company's Chairman, John Thornton, stated that Mark Bristow "strengthened our asset portfolio and helped establish Barrick Mining as a leading global producer of gold and copper," but did not explain the reasons for his departure. Additionally, the company's board selection committee indicated that it has initiated a process, with the support of a leading executive search firm, to find a permanent President and CEO. Mark Hill is currently responsible for Barrick Mining's operations in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, with 30 years of experience in the mining industry. He joined the company in 2006 and played a key role in the initial decision to explore the Fourmile gold project in Nevada. On September 16, Barrick Mining's preliminary assessment of the Fourmile project in Nevada indicated that the mine has the potential to produce up to 750,000 ounces of gold annually. The company described the Fourmile project as "one of the greatest gold discoveries of the century." This discovery is particularly noteworthy as the exploration and development of new deposits are becoming increasingly difficult and expensive under pressure from shareholders to maximize returns. At the same time, the soaring price of gold as a safe-haven asset has garnered additional attention for this discovery. Regarding the Fourmile project, TD Cowen analyst Steven Green described it as a "game changer." Stifel analyst Ralph Profiti estimated the project's value to exceed $10 billion, while BMO Capital Markets analyst Matthew Murphy estimated its value at $9.2 billion
