Earlier this year, NVIDIA launched a program in partnership with more than a dozen companies to change the internal power supply method of large AI data centers (which consume as much electricity as a city) from the more commonly used alternating current to 800 volts direct current. The program aims to reduce power transmission losses within data centers. Power Integrations reported revenue of $419 million in its last fiscal year, with its products primarily providing power supply chips for large appliances such as automobiles and dryers. The company produces chips using gallium nitride (commonly referred to as "GaN" in the industry). These gallium nitride chips can meet the power supply needs of companies like NVIDIA and are smaller in size compared to chips made from other materials. Currently, Power Integrations has not disclosed its revenue expectations or specific timeline for supplying chips to NVIDIA. However, Roland Saint-Pierre, the company's Vice President of Product Development, stated in an interview with Reuters that the reliability testing experience accumulated from supplying the automotive industry helped the company successfully enter NVIDIA's list of qualified suppliers. This list already includes several competitors from Europe and China, such as Infineon and InnoScience. "We have the qualifications to supply the automotive industry, and our gallium nitride power devices have been applied in the automotive field, which caught NVIDIA's attention," Saint-Pierre said. "Data centers have very high requirements for technical rigor and reliability, and our advantages align perfectly with this demand, which is why we have gained their favor." ### Related Stocks - [NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDA.US.md) - [Power Integrations, Inc.
