# Short sellers cut bets against energy stocks in September

> Short sellers reduced their bets against energy stocks in September, with short interest in the sector falling to 2.09% from 2.21% in August. Total short bets decreased to $421.8M from $446.16M. Crude oil futures dropped 3.7%, while the S&P 500 Energy sector fell 1.3%. Most shorted stocks included APA Corporation and Texas Pacific Land, while Chevron and Exxon Mobil were among the least shorted. The Oil and Gas Exploration and Production industry had the highest short interest at 3.22%.
