# The alliance of giants shocks the European AI industry! Microsoft plans to lease computing power from Nscale's data center in Portugal, which will be equipped with 12,600 NVIDIA Ultra GPUs

According to reports, Microsoft (MSFT.US) plans to lease data center computing power from Nscale, with the relevant facilities located in Portugal, and will be equipped with NVIDIA (NVDA.US) artificial intelligence chips. The data center is located south of Lisbon and is expected to be operational early next year, at which time 12,600 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs will be deployed. Microsoft's leasing of some computing power aims to meet its growing demand for artificial intelligence.

Nscale is a hyperscale computing service provider headquartered in the UK. Last month, the company announced a partnership with Microsoft, NVIDIA, and OpenAI to develop a 50-megawatt artificial intelligence computing facility in a park in Loughton, north of London. Additionally, Nscale completed a $1.1 billion Series B financing in September of this year, setting a record for the largest financing in European history. Shortly after this milestone financing, the company also completed a $413 million Pre-C round SAFE financing, with participation from companies such as NVIDIA and Dell (DELL.US).

"Seeing the enthusiasm and confidence of our core investors aligns with our own expectations for the company, which is exciting. Just days after the completion of the Series B financing, investors committed to participating in our Pre-C round SAFE financing, strongly validating our vision—to build autonomous, controllable, and scalable infrastructure for the era of artificial intelligence."
