According to Zhitong Finance APP, later this month, during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit held in Gyeongju, South Korea, Samsung Electronics will launch its highly anticipated first tri-fold smartphone. According to informed sources, the device will feature a dual-hinge design, allowing it to maintain the operational form of a traditional smartphone when fully unfolded, while also functioning as a larger-sized tablet.

This innovative product is set to make its debut at the Korea Advanced Technology Exhibition, which will take place concurrently with the summit, where it will be displayed in a glass showcase, and attendees may not be able to directly touch or experience it. Samsung aims to showcase the new product at this multilateral diplomatic event to enhance its international reputation as an engineering pioneer, leveraging the opportunity presented by the gathering of global political leaders, and further solidifying its leadership position in the foldable device sector.

It is worth noting that Samsung is not the first company to launch a tri-fold phone. Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. was the first to release the world's first tri-fold smartphone in the Chinese market last year, and now Samsung has the opportunity to bring this form factor to the global market. Reports indicate that this tri-fold smartphone is expected to be fully launched later in 2025, although a specific timeline has not been publicly disclosed.

Since Samsung first entered the foldable smartphone market in 2019, significant changes have occurred in this sector.
