# Defence companies fall in Europe on Trump-Putin meeting plans

> Shares in European arms manufacturers fell on Friday following news of a planned summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, impacting year-to-date gains. The aerospace and defense index (.SXPARO) dropped approximately 3%, despite a 64% increase up to Thursday's close. German firms Rheinmetall, Renk, and Hensoldt saw declines of 3% to 6%, while BAE Systems, Babcock, and Chemring Group fell by 3-4%. Italy's Leonardo, France's Thales, and Sweden's SAAB experienced declines between 3% and 3.5%.
