# Ministry of Commerce: Urges the U.S. side to promptly correct its erroneous practices and effectively comply with WTO rules

The Ministry of Commerce emphasized that the WTO is the cornerstone of economic globalization, and all members must jointly fulfill their obligations to promote equitable and orderly development of global governance and the economy

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, on October 17, the Ministry of Commerce of China released the "2025 Report on the United States' Compliance with WTO Rules." The head of the WTO Division of the Ministry of Commerce introduced the relevant situation. The official stated that the current multilateral trading system faces significant challenges, and China hopes that the release of the 2025 report will urge the U.S. to promptly correct its erroneous practices, effectively comply with WTO rules, fulfill its obligations as a member, quickly eliminate violations such as "reciprocal tariffs," and work together with other members, including China, to promote a greater role for the multilateral trading system in global governance, and jointly commit to achieving an equal and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.

**Head of the WTO Division of the Ministry of Commerce Interprets the "2025 Report on the United States' Compliance with WTO Rules"**

On October 17, the Ministry of Commerce of China released the "2025 Report on the United States' Compliance with WTO Rules." The head of the WTO Division of the Ministry of Commerce introduced the relevant situation.

Since 2023, based on the objective situation of the U.S. fulfilling its WTO obligations, China has continuously released annual reports on the U.S. compliance with WTO rules, expressing concerns over the U.S. undermining the multilateral trading system, implementing trade bullying, manipulating industrial policies with double standards, and disrupting global industrial and supply chains. Since the release of the 2024 report, the U.S. has continued to disregard member expectations, acting contrary to its WTO obligations, escalating unilateral measures, frequently implementing discriminatory policies, introducing so-called "reciprocal tariffs," and launching a global trade war, severely infringing on the legitimate rights and interests of various countries, seriously violating WTO rules, and significantly damaging the rules-based multilateral trading system. Based on the above situation, the Ministry of Commerce released the 2025 report to continue expressing serious concerns over the relevant policies and measures of the U.S.

The multilateral trading system centered on the WTO is the cornerstone of economic globalization and international trade. The WTO is a rules-based international organization, and its effective operation relies on all members fully fulfilling their obligations while enjoying their rights, as well as mutual supervision and cooperation among members.
