# A key week begins! Japanese stocks soar, the Nikkei 225 index rises to a historical high, and gold continues to pull back

The Nikkei 225 index opened higher and continued to rise, with the intraday increase expanding to 2%. Spot gold fell below $4,220 per ounce during the day, down 0.6% intraday
