# Lagarde: The pain caused by Trump's tariffs has not yet fully manifested

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Sunday that the global economy "has not yet fully felt the pain caused by Trump's tariffs." Lagarde pointed out in the program that there will come a day when exporters and importers will no longer accept the shrinking profit margins caused by tariffs, and will decide to raise product prices. "Essentially, two-thirds of this burden is borne by exporters and importers, based on the squeeze on their profit margins," she said. "How long they can endure this profit squeeze—remains to be seen. And when they can no longer bear it, as the pressure becomes too great, the costs will be passed on to consumers. So, it's just a matter of time." Lagarde stated that tariffs are one of the two major factors causing the global economy to be "in transition," the other being technological advancement
