# Tencent 2025 R&D Big Data Report: 50% of new code is generated with AI assistance, and over 90% of engineers use AI for programming

On October 24th, Tencent released the "2025 Tencent R&D Big Data Report," which systematically disclosed the R&D progress for 2025 for the first time. The report shows that AI has fully integrated into Tencent's R&D system, becoming a "new engine" driving the improvement of R&D efficiency. Over 90% of Tencent engineers use the AI programming assistant CodeBuddy to assist in programming, and 50% of new code is generated with AI assistance. By relying on WeDev to connect the R&D efficiency toolchain and link the R&D process, the overall R&D efficiency of the company has improved by over 20%
