# Former Xiaomi executive raises nearly 200 million yuan to develop AI imaging consumer hardware

Once a young generation of management at Xiaomi, Ma Ju was responsible for the MIUI system, then led Xiaomi's global internet business and commercialization, and later built Xiaomi's new retail system and Xiaomi.com in China. However, in November 2024, when Ma Ju decided to leave Xiaomi to start his own business, he chose a seemingly "counterintuitive" direction: to create an AI imaging consumer hardware. The company founded by Ma Ju, KCT, completed a $27 million angel round financing, co-led by Honghui Capital, Dinghui VGC, and Shunwei Capital, with follow-on investments from several institutions including ShenDu Capital, TongGe Capital, DunHong Capital, and Inno Angel. Currently, KCT's first product is still under development, with a release plan expected next year
