# Joby Aviation partners with NVIDIA to develop autonomous flying technology

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Joby Aviation (JOBY.US) is collaborating with NVIDIA (NVDA.US) to advance the development of the company's autonomous flight technology "Superpilot" by integrating NVIDIA's IGX Thor computing platform. With support from NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture, IGX Thor aims to power the next generation of physical artificial intelligence applications.

Gregor Veble Mikić, the flight research director at Joby Aviation, stated: "The autonomous driving system we are developing can compensate for human shortcomings, providing speed, precision, and endurance beyond the capabilities of a single individual. To achieve this, an aircraft needs to be equipped with a powerful onboard computer capable of processing vast amounts of information and making decisions in real-time."

By combining IGX Thor with Joby Aviation's aircraft design and flight testing capabilities, NVIDIA and Joby Aviation can accelerate the development of autonomous aviation technology. By integrating advanced computing power, the aircraft will be able to autonomously determine, request, and follow the optimal flight path, adapting to weather conditions, air traffic control instructions, or emergencies, and even making judgments with human-like intuition.

Additionally, the platform will enable the aircraft to predict when system components need maintenance and alert the crew before component failures occur.

Following the announcement, Joby Aviation's stock price rose by more than 10% in after-hours trading
