# Hang Seng Indexes Company: The Hang Seng Information Technology Index will be renamed the Hang Seng Semiconductor Industry Theme Index and will update its calculation method

> On October 31, Hang Seng Indexes Company announced that the Hang Seng Information Technology Index will be renamed the Hang Seng Semiconductor Industry Theme Index, and its calculation method will also be updated. The renaming of the index and related changes in constituent stocks will take effect on November 7, 2025 (Friday). The modifications to the calculation method include changes to the index objectives, stock selection criteria, industry requirements, constituent stock selection methods, weighting methods, and weight limits; new liquidity requirements, thematic requirements, and buffers have been added; the number of constituent stocks is fixed at 40. In addition, the number of constituent stocks in the Hang Seng Semiconductor Industry Theme Index will be reduced from 45 to 33, with 11 stocks including CE HUADA TECH and Baker Hughes added; 23 stocks including China Civil Aviation Information Network and Tencent Holdings will be removed

According to Zhitong Finance APP, on October 31, the Hang Seng Index Company announced that the Hang Seng Information Technology Index will be renamed the Hang Seng Semiconductor Industry Theme Index, and its calculation method will also be updated. The renaming of the index and related changes in constituent stocks will take effect on November 7, 2025 (Friday).

The modifications to the calculation method include changes to the index objectives, stock selection criteria, industry requirements, constituent stock selection methods, weighting methods, and upper limits on weightings; new liquidity requirements, thematic requirements, and buffers have been added; the number of constituent stocks will be fixed at 40.

In addition, the number of constituent stocks in the Hang Seng Semiconductor Industry Theme Index will be reduced from 45 to 33, with the addition of 11 stocks including CE HUADA TECH (00085) and Baker Hughes (02149); 23 stocks including China Civil Aviation Information Network (00696) and Tencent Holdings (00700) will be removed.
