# To resolve the U.S. government shutdown, Senate Democrats proposed extending ACA subsidies for one year, and the Dow Jones turned positive

The Democratic Party of the U.S. Senate has set conditions for ending the government shutdown (under President Trump), proposing to extend the ACA (Affordable Care Act) subsidies for one year.

Senate Democratic leader Schumer stated that a solution has been proposed regarding the government shutdown.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune needs to include the ACA subsidy information in the temporary spending legislation draft.

The S&P 500 index nearly erased an earlier intraday decline of over 1%, the Dow turned positive, and the Nasdaq's decline narrowed from over 2% to 0.5%
