# The Gates Foundation Trust significantly reduced its holdings of nearly 65% of Microsoft shares last season

According to foreign media reports, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust disclosed that it sold 17 million shares of Microsoft (MSFT.US) in the third quarter of this year, accounting for nearly 65% of its original holdings in Microsoft. The trust's holdings in Microsoft have been reduced to 9.2 million shares, with a market value of approximately $4.76 billion based on the current stock price, representing about 13% of the trust's investment portfolio, down from over 27% previously.

Based on the average stock price of Microsoft in the third quarter of $510.13, the trust realized approximately $8.7 billion from the sale of Microsoft shares
