# Report: Citadel's Apex acquires natural gas assets, expanding drilling rig scale to up to 16 units

According to informed sources, Apex Natural Gas, a subsidiary of global hedge fund giant Citadel, has acquired the natural gas assets of billionaire and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones's Comstock Resources Inc. located in Texas, USA, for approximately $430 million.

Apex also agreed to acquire some Haynesville shale gas field assets from Azul Resources, LLC, which is backed by private equity firm Carnelian Energy Capital.

These two transactions are expected to be completed later this month and in January next year, respectively, and are anticipated to further increase Apex's rig count to around 12-16. (Bloomberg)
