(Image credit: Farasis Energy) Chinese battery manufacturer Farasis Energy announced today that it has secured a significant order to supply batteries for two European models of GAC Aion. Farasis' batteries will power the Aion V and Aion UT European models, which are expected to become GAC Aion's primary offerings in the European market, according to a statement released today. Farasis will supply its SPS (Super Pouch Solution) lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system solution, with the total order capacity exceeding 10 GWh, the battery manufacturer said. Join us on Telegram or Google News Farasis' SPS utilizes large-format pouch cells and battery systems, offering features such as long range, fast charging, high safety performance, low cost, high adaptability, and scalability for future iterations, it noted. This collaboration marks a significant breakthrough for Farasis' SPS battery products in overseas markets, the company said. Currently, Farasis' SPS battery solutions are deployed across multiple models including Geely's Radar RD6 Horizon electric pickup, GAC Aion's second-generation Aion V, and Aion UT, covering electric pickups, sedans, and SUVs (sport utility vehicles). This isn't the first collaboration between Farasis and GAC Aion; for years, Farasis has supplied battery solutions for multiple models of GAC Group's EV subsidiary. Farasis ranks among China's smaller players in the power battery manufacturing sector. In October, its ternary lithium battery installations totaled 0.003 GWh, securing a 0.02 percent market share and placing it 12th in China's ternary lithium battery market, according to data from the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA). In terms of overall market installations, Farasis did not rank among the top 15 in October.
